To maintain the technical condition of the rooms, you are not allowed to make any changes to the technical installation and architectural layout of your room.
Customise room
Want to customise your room to your own taste? You can, if you follow some ground rules:
Painting / drilling / nailing
You may paint the walls in the kitchen, living room and bedroom between baseboard and ceiling plinth in any colour you like. It is important to use good latex paint (not smudge-proof paint). When you leave, the walls should be finished in RAL 9010. Or the next tenant must accept the coloured walls. Painting ceilings, windows, window frames, doors and skirting boards etc. is not allowed.
Do not nail or drill into windows, window frames and panelling. If you want to hang something on the walls, realise that you will have to return the walls taut when you leave. Holes should be smeared. Be careful not to drill or nail into pipework.
Tip: Fix a thin batten along the ceiling to which you attach wall decorations, picture frames, posters, etc. This will prevent a lot of work when leaving. Do not stick posters/stickers to the wall with tape or posterbuddies/ sticky pads.
Flooring
The room has no carpets as standard. Do you lay carpet? Then remember to remove it when you leave. No glue residue and/or adhesive foam residue may remain on the floor. You may also transfer the floor to the next occupant. Never nail or drill into the concrete or wooden floor, because the floor contains (water) pipes. Prevent noise pollution! Lay a sound-damping underlay under your floor covering.
Curtain rails
Some rooms have curtain rails. You can use these. If there are no curtain rails, you can install them yourself. You may not screw or drill into the window frames.
Technical installations
Always indicate any technical system malfunctions (power, heating, water, etc.) to your caretaker immediately. Don't start repair the installations yourself.
