You can install your own washer and dryer in the communal entry (in the central heating cupboard). Just make sure the central heating boiler remains easily accessible.

If you don't have a washing machine or are going away for a while, turn off the water tap to avoid water damage.

Unpleasant odours
Not installing a washing machine? Then pour some vegetable oil down the drain. This will reduce water evaporation and prevent a nasty sewer smell in your hall.
